The history of Salemi is written in its historical center, a true "stone library" that guard treasures of art and architecture of great value such as the intricate network of alleys and court-yards, typical Muslim way of building, the Norman castle, representing the sense of the protection, from which Garibaldi waved the first Italian tricolour flag; the churches and the convents, which testify the strong tie that joins the inhabitants to the sacred things; the Museum, that collects part of the recovered works of art from the churches damaged or destroyed by the earthquake of 1968; the Library, propulsive center of the culture in Salemi.

The Communal Administration carries on a program of valorization of all of the cultural assets of the territory, monumental, historical, literal, artistic, uses and way of living and in particular of the archaeological assets. They attempt to place side by side to the economy of Salemi, based on agriculture and connected activities, an economy based on the tourism.
The territory of Salemi, rich of particularly interesting archaeological zones, an unique historical center due to its conformation, of traditional festivities tied to the working of the bread, represents an environmental unicum with a great tourist vocation.
The Communal Administration with this video means to offer a useful support in order to better appreciate the artistic beauties, the archaeological and etno-anthropological assets of the territory.
