Rising on the slopes of a hill 500 meters high, encircled from extended arboreal spots, Mezzojuso jealuosly conserve its history and its culture characterized by the perfect harmony of two spirits, the Latin and the Albanian one.

The social integration between the two ethnic groups favoured the rising of churches, monasteries, convents and the production of an artistic patrimony that reaches the best expression in the production of holy icons.

Sicilian and Albanian people participate togheter to the Greek celebrations of San Nicolò of Mira, to Epiphany and to Holy Friday, as well as to those Latins of San Giuseppe and of the Holy Thursday, and to the collective pantomima of the "Mastro di Campo (Field Master) during Carnival. By this collective participation they helps to survive cults and traditions otherwise destined to disappear.

Landscape, atmosphere, archaeological sites, architecture, works of art, popular traditions, all of the above would be empty expressions of nature and man if all people of Mezzojuso, regardless to the language spoke in origin, had forgot to defend these values, thus making them eternal.
